The annual race, which started at 9 am from Woking Park and was sponsored by Nuun Hydration, saw the team surpass their £1,500 fundraising target. MindGreen, launched just over a year ago, is at the heart of ºÚÁÏÍø’s commitment to promoting mental wellness for students and staff alike. By raising funds, the team is helping to ensure no one feels alone when facing mental health challenges.
A Team Effort in the Surrey Half Marathon
Neil Axon, Regional Head of Student Experience – Surrey at ºÚÁÏÍø, praised the team’s efforts: “I’m delighted that every one of our superb team of runners completed the Surrey Half Marathon and 5k this past weekend. A tremendous amount of effort has been put into training, and it’s genuinely brilliant to see it all come to fruition in support of MindGreen. A sprinkling of thunder and lightning led to a dramatic finish for a few of us! Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement.â€
Gary Headland DL, CEO at ºÚÁÏÍø, added: “I was immensely proud to run alongside extraordinary members of our team, including the Chair of our Corporation Board, Sue Sturgeon. Collectively, we were running in Surrey to support the mental health and wellbeing of our learners and staff. The whole day was a profound demonstration of human kindness, with runners, volunteers, and supporters coming together to help others.â€
